BIG Business of the Week

We had the honour of being chosen by 101 BIG FM as its BIG Business of the Week for Feb. 5-9!

They treated us to a delicious catered lunch of sandwiches, cookies and coffee cake from Fox’s Bakery and Deli and plugged our little downtown shop on the radio throughout the week.

We had BIG FM playing all week long. It was very cool to hear them spread the word about us, and to hear host Deb James say she liked out tagline, “Not your grandma’s antiques store!”

Thanks again, BIG FM!

Photographing Mosquito Emporium

We had the fantastic Barrie-based photographer Laura Bainborough come by Mosquito Emporium recently to take some shots, and we are thrilled with the results!

She really captured some great details of our vintage shop in clean, professional images. We are so happy to have these to share with everyone, and as keepsakes for family.

Here are some of our favourite photos from the shoot:

The shop has plenty of vintage Playboys in stock.

Grand Opening thanks!

A big thank you to our friends, family, Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman, and downtown neighbours who came to our Grand Opening! We are so thankful for all your support, and we are thrilled to be part of such a great community!

Another big thanks to our downtown friends Bohemia, Sinfull Delight Boutique, B.J.’s Records and Nostalgia, and HeadQuarters Hair Salon who donated some amazing prizes, and to Carly-Marie’s Sweet Treats for the delicious cake and cupcakes in retro colours!

Thanks to Mayor Lehman for helping us celebrate!

What we love to see… a store full of friends and family!

Mosquito Emporium in the News

Thanks so much to Janis Ramsay at the Barrie Advance and Sue Sgambati at Barrie Today for helping us spread the word about Mosquito Emporium!

Barrie is growing into a vintage and antiques destination in Simcoe County, and we’re thrilled to be a part of that scene.

We lived in Toronto for a few years and often checked out the vintage shops there, but the high price points meant we usually couldn’t buy much.

At Mosquito Emporium, our goal is to offer quality, unique, retro furniture and décor at reasonable prices. We want to see those quality pieces that have already lasted decades to last many more years in your home.

Grand Opening

We’ve been open since October but are so excited to host our GRAND opening Saturday, Nov. 25! We love being a part of the downtown community, and we’d love it if you helped us celebrate.

WHEN Nov. 25, 1-4 p.m.
WHERE Mosquito Emporium, 9 Clapperton St., Barrie

Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman will be stopping by at 1 p.m. to help us kick things off. Come by the shop for cupcakes and your chance to win prizes!
